Polygone Airfield(Strasbourg)

Construction
Housed on the former military field existing since 1720, Guillaume 1er had come during parades at Polygon as in 1877.

This aerodrome participated in the first flight experiments.

It served as a test base for the airplanes built by the Mathis factory.

Army flying school during WW1, the Polygon saw the installation after the war of the famous fighter unit: the groupe des Cigognes.

It is the beginning of the military aviation with the permanent presence until 1939 of the 2nd fighter corps of the French army.

It is on this airfield that Antoine de Saint Exupéry, then a student pilot, was introduced to aviation in the 1920s and will even pass his pilot's license.

The Eurocorps has its headquarters at the edge of the aerodrome and is also modeled.
