Dassault Rafale is a French military aircraft conceived by Avions Marcel Dassault-Breguet Aviation (AMD-BA) and produced by Dassault Aviation. This ambitious program has a difficult goal: Harmonizing the French Armies aims standard before 2025-2030, to replace 5 types of aircraft in service in the Air force and the National marine. The prototype Rafale C 01 arrives in May 1991 with a black livery suggesting the furtivity (it was the fashion but it is not furtive). The compactness of the M88 engine compared to F404 allows to reduce the prototype weight by one ton (8,5) and reducing its length by one meter. The duck plans are modified to be used also as air-brakes.
This project was one of the very first applications in X-Plane of visual "100% 3D" animated (in particular the complete animation of the landing gear).
